Tom Hammergren
Founder, President & CEO
A well known innovator, writer, educator, speaker and consultant, Tom Hammergren founded Balanced Insight in 2003. In his two decades in business intelligence and information management, he has held senior management positions with top BI providers, including Cognos, Cincom and Sybase, and led successful BI engagements for world-class businesses, including Procter & Gamble, Quantum Chemical, Cinergy, and FirstEnergy.
Hammergren played critical roles in the design, development and market launch of major BI offerings, including:
- Cognos’ PowerPlay and Impromptu offerings, where he was a founding members of the product teams;
- Sybase’s WarehouseStudio, a comprehensive set of tools for delivering enterprise data warehousing solutions;
- Cincom’s SupraServer, one of the first fully distributed data management solutions for highly survivable network implementations.
Additionally, Hammergren has served as:
- Senior Vice President/General Manager of divine’s Customer Interaction Management business unit, profitable $100M software operation;
- Chief Operating Officer, Synchrony Communications.
Hammergren has published numerous articles in industry journals and is the author of two widely read books, Data Warehousing: Building the Corporate Knowledge Base and Data Warehousing on the Internet: Accessing the Corporate Knowledge Base. Hammergen also co-authored Data Warehousing for Dummies.
He holds a BS degree in Computer Science from the University of Missouri, which he attended on a swimming scholarship after winning High-School All-American honors. He lives in Cincinnati, Ohio with his wife, son and daughter.
